Pantone colour of the year 2020

The Pantone colour of the year 2020 is timeless

19-4052 Classic Blue

Great colour for us because we spin by the sea. We have ocean views and the classic blue is often there before our very eyes. It is a colour we spin and then we like the turquoises too. Blue is a good, classic colour.

According to Color Wheel Pro :

Blue is the color of the sky and sea. It is often associated with depth and stability. It symbolizes trust, loyalty, wisdom, confidence, intelligence, faith, truth, and heaven.

Sleeveless jacket

The internet calls a sleeveless jacket a vest . If you look up sleeveless vest you’ll get slipovers and sleeveless jackets. How confusing. Marjorie’s sleeveless jacket is not at all confusing! It is bright, bold, colourful and a great addition to a winter wardrobe. It is often enough to keep your back warm and it is particularly handy to have a sleeveless knitted top when you are cooking, spinning or doing something which requires you to move your arms. Sleeves can get in the way. In addition you can create all sorts of looks by contrasting or co ordinating what you wear under the sleeveless jacket.

Marjorie’s jacket is designed to beat the winter blues by choosing a blue so daring it’s a stand out. Marjorie has hand dyed and spun the wool and then knitted the sleeveless jacket. It is always a labour of love and creative journey. We are now looking forward to seeing what buttons she chooses.

There are plenty of vest patterns to choose from – sleeveless jackets and slipovers – on Knitting Patterns Galore.

Spinning the blues

We are never blue when we are spinning but it is always amazing to see the number of variations on blue that we have. We can buy blue to spin or dye our own. We never tire of blue, probably because we spin by the ocean and constantly have that view to inspire us. Working with fibre is healing and relaxing. You just want to get that lovely colour and spin.

All the blue

blue woolMarina had some blue wool batts  which Alexis had dyed . The blues were so lovely and restful and the colours were spinning beautifully. We spin by the ocean so the blue is very much a reminder of that beautiful visual feast we have each week which is so inspirational. Marina has since plied that wool with some angora yarn and cotton. The blue skein of wool really is the ocean. blue wool
