We had a lovely felting workshop on Monday where we were making bags. Wet felting starts off very sedately and then it becomes very energetic , labour intensive work to get the fabric felted. We got our bags to the stage where we could bring them home and finish the process. Jan E, Alexis and Karin were very helpful mentors and facilitators. Their experience and expertise was freely shared and they encouraged the felters in a way which would inspire them to do better. Pam brought along some templates for bags and purses we could try at home and that was very thoughtful. It was a very creative, busy time and we all enjoyed it but were tired by the end of the session. Great work out , though, and so creative. It was good to see how hankie silk can be felted with wool to make cobwebs of pattern and Sheila’s idea of felting onto a lining was great. We are looking forward to seeing how these bags turn out. Next week we shall be learning a way of felting handles.
