Anne is one of our new members who comes to us with plenty of skills and experience. She has a Sheridan wheel which she loves and it is the wheel she learned to spin on. She speaks very highly of it. For years she had stopped spinning but this year marks a return to something she loves. That and weaving. The Sheridan wheel is made beautifully and has a really solid look about it. The wood is excellent and it spins very quietly and efficiently. Anne loves that it is a double drive wheel and finds she can spin finely and evenly with it. She is currently spinning some coloured wool which she will ply with some black she has already spun. Sheridan wheels are Australian wheels designed by Eric Corran and they were made in Victoria. You can read about the Sheridan on the Australian Spinning Wheels site. Anne’s wheel looks similar to a traditional Ashford wheel but the wood is quite different. These wheels are only available second hand now but they are lovely , well crafted wheels.
